Brief
To design a 3D soapbox bathtub display, that represents as closely as possible the key art on the event poster. The 3D soapbox display will provide an eyecatching piece of promotional POS to advertise the event to potential participents and the events spectators. I was asked to embrace the events moto FASTEN YOUR SEAT BELT AND UNLEASH YOUR IMAGINATION.
To design a 3D soapbox bathtub display, that represents as closely as possible the key art on the event poster. Execution
I focused on choosing a traditional bathtub shape, that would be instantly recognisable as a bathtub, then dress it using different materials and cardboard engineering techniques to represent the different features of the Red Bull soapbox design. I worked very closely with Red Bull to make sure the design conformed to their strict brand guidelines and replicated the look and feel of the watercolour painting style used on all Red Bull advertising graphics.
Reaction
The initial reaction from the marketing team at Red Bull on seeing the colour prototype was that the display captured the very style and imagination that Red Bull were looking to create from their advertising campaign. They thought it would help generate excitement and spark imagination amongst the potential inventors and entrants into the Red Bull Soapbox Race 2016.
